Due to lack of community support, Featherweight, will be there to do what we can to educate and advocate—no family needs to be left without information,referals, and support for eating disorders
Goals
The goal of Featherweight, Inc. is to use a grassroots approach to reach out to the public , to parents, caregivers, and victims about the warning signs, dangers, and consequences of Anorexia, Bulimia, and other related disorders. Featherweight, Inc.'s goals include: Reaching out to the community and provide any necessary referral or eating disorder information . Because we receive no government funding for operational expenses and rely on the generosity and financial support of individuals, corporations, foundations and the proceeds from events,we will
focus mainly on raising funds to continue and step up our programs for education . In 2006, We plan to produce public service announcements for television, radio, and newspapers, and work in schools to inform and educate teachers, students, and parents to increase awareness in our community. Annually, Featherweight Inc. hosts an event to contribute funds to help with the out of pocket expenses for one patient’s long term, inpatient care.

Eating disorders are often misunderstood by sufferers, their loved ones, the media and the general public. We will support positive body image in our nation. We will try and change peoples misconceptions, and get the right information to parents, teachers, care givers and victims about the warning signs, dangers and very real consequences of eating disorders. We also raise money to help families with the staggering out of pocket treatment expenses.
